In June, DoCoMo started selling the LG Optimus Bright L-07C:

Apparently it's a "so-so" model with reasonable but not knock-your-socks-off specs. Apparently it didn't get a lot of attention. It does run Android 2.3 though, has a 4" screen, 480x800 pixels and a 5 Mpixel camera.
Some people say it is basically the LG Optimus Black repackaged for Japan:

I think it's different in at least one respect though. The Optimus Black has a front camera too, but I don't think DoCoMo's Optimus Bright does.
Anyway, I was looking for an inexpensive Android test machine. I wasn't thinking of even making a data/phone contract and just using it over wi-fi.
Anybody here have experience with this phone or comments? It is available at Yahoo Auction new from many parties in the 8,000 - 12,000 yen range. I have a bid on one auction which expires today - currently at 8,800 yen.
Also, does anybody know which DoCoMo Android phones are SIM-unlocked? I was wondering if I could use this as a spare phone when on travel in the U.S.
Thanks,
doug
