My iPhone contract is 3 years old and the hardware payments are long paid off. But I am getting tired of paying for the data plan, especially since I don't use data on my iPhone (Cellular Data is turned off and if I want to access email/internet I go online with Wifi via my PocketWifi router).
Therefore I was wondering what would happen if I cancelled my iPhone contract with it's data plan, removed the corresponding SIM card, get the cheapest mobile voice only contract for my 5 year old SoftBank mobile phone, and put that voice only SIM in my iPhone.
Would that work? Would I be hit with any multi-jyuman yen charges from SoftBank?
As long as you have cell data turned off, you should not be getting huge bills.
But I am not sure if a normal SB SIM will work as-is in the iPhone. Or you could always JB, unlock and then use any SIM you want in the iPhone for voice.
