"What's interesting in that video is that the iPhone 4 beat the 4s. If this comparison result can be repeated, then AU has some new material for their advertisements. Son emphasized during the recent Softbank reveal of new phones that they would…"

Softbank iPhone Contract Details

The two-year contract on my iPhone 3Gs just completed. I spoke to a Softbank rep today and he told me the following: 1. I am now in a sort of 3 month "limbo" where I could get a new phone or cancel my account and there would be no penalty. 2. After 3 months, I will automatically be enrolled in another 2-year contract. I asked him if I could go indefinitely onto a month-to-month plan and he said no. After the three months was up, I had to enter another 2 year contract. My three month limbo…See More

"One difference between Softbank and ATT is that at least ATT offers a tethering plan.... Softbank doesn't. Therefore, even if Softbank could detect tetherers (which would also mean the phone is jailbroken... another violation in Japan),…"

Can a Credit Card Be Linked to a Phone for Payments?

I am fimiliar with debit card options in Japan such as WAON, NANACO, EDY and SUICA that can be linked to your phone so you can use your phone to pay for things such as subway fares, 7-11 purchases, etc. BUT... is it possible here to link a real credit card (e.g., VISA, MASTER CARD) to your phone so that purchases are charged to your credit card? The distinction I'm drawing here is between debit cards and credit cards. See More
